Why track Target prices
Target runs sales constantly. A price can drop for a week, go back up, and drop again during a bigger event. If you only check when you remember, you tend to see the regular price and miss the sale by a few days.
A price tracker checks the product page for you, keeps a history of every price it saw, and notifies you when the price falls or reaches your target. You buy on the right day instead of the day you happened to look.
Set up a Target price drop alert in 4 steps
- Open the product in the Target app or on target.com in Chrome. Choose the colour, size or pack you want before you go further.
- Tap Share, then Droplert. Droplert opens the product page. You can also paste the link into Droplert.
- Tap the price you'd pay. Droplert remembers where it sits on the page and shows you what it read. Tap Track it.
- Choose a check schedule and a target price. A few checks a day catches most Target sales. Daily is fine for things you aren't in a hurry for.
Reading a Target product page
Sale price vs "reg" price
When an item is on sale, Target shows the sale price in bold with the regular price beside it, marked "reg". Tap the sale price. That's what you'd pay today, and it's the number your alerts should follow. When the sale ends, the history shows the price going back up, which tells you how long Target's sales on that item tend to last.
Variants and price ranges
Products that come in several sizes or colours can show a price range, such as "$19.99 – $29.99", until you pick one. A range isn't a price you can pay. Pick the exact variant first, check that the page shows a single price, and then share it. If one colour is cheaper than the rest, track that colour.
Member offers aren't the page price
Some deals are Target Circle offers. You add them in your Target account and they come off at checkout. Droplert doesn't sign in and doesn't apply member offers, so it tracks the price anyone sees on the page. If you also have a Circle offer, the real price can be a little lower than the alert says.
Target Circle Week, Black Friday and other big sales
Target's biggest discounts cluster around a few events: its Target Circle member sales (Circle Week, lately billed as Target Circle Deal Days), back-to-school, and the long Black Friday season. These are the moments when tracking pays off most.
- Start early. Add the items you want a week or two before the event. You'll have a baseline, so you can tell a real drop from a price that went up just before the sale.
- Check more often during the event. Switch the schedule to every hour or two while the sale runs, then slow it down again.
- Set targets, not hopes. Decide in advance what you'll pay. When the alert arrives, the decision is already made.
A note on Target's price match
Target stopped matching Amazon and Walmart prices in July 2025. It still matches its own lower prices in some cases, such as a lower price on target.com or in the app. The exact rules and time limits change, so read Target's current price match terms before you rely on them.
If you've already bought something and want to know whether it dropped afterwards, keep tracking it for a couple of weeks. The price history will show you exactly when it fell and by how much.
Target app vs Droplert
The Target app is good at what it's for, and you'll want it either way:
| Best for | Trade-off | |
|---|---|---|
| Target app | Target Circle offers, store stock and checkout | Target only. You have to open it to see what changed |
| Droplert | A notification when a specific item drops or hits your target, with a price history, on Target and other shops in one list | History starts when you start tracking. Doesn't apply Circle offers |
Use the Target app to find and claim offers. Use Droplert to know when it's the right time to open it.

Is it free?
Yes. The free plan tracks up to 5 products with hourly checks and 30 days of history. An optional upgrade gives unlimited products, checks as often as every 15 minutes, and a year of history.
Do I need a Target account?
No. Droplert never signs in to Target and doesn't need its own account either. Your watchlist and price history stay on your phone.
What if a check fails?
Droplert flags the product and tries again on the next run. If it keeps failing, open the product in Droplert and tap the price again. Still stuck? Email the link to support@droplert.app.
Does it work on iPhone?
Not yet. Droplert is Android only, Android 10 and newer.
